Love twitter! Been tweeting off an on since last year and wonder what I did before that, you know? It's like, once you "get" twitter, and know how to go about interacting there, it's the ultimate social media place which includes Dolby surround sound, 3D, waterfalls, prat-falls and smell-a-vision. Interaction is the key to tweeting success, not posting ads.

I've read somewhere recently that Facebook is now number four in use on the web. Since twitter interacts with Facebook, I bet twitter will be in the top five "most memberships" soon enough. Time's online mag already has twitter in the top 10 for "social media."

I look for a barrage of twitter like sites that offer more or less the same thing in new design modules. Since the hacking of twitter last week (beginning on Aug 6th, 2009) and lasting for some folks until today (Sun Aug 9th, 2009) there have been articles such as "Where Were You When Twitter Almost Died?" I had to LOL at that one.

Some people were so freaked out over it at Facebook (which also saw some major hacker problems at the same time) they could talk of nothing else. Withdrawal of any kind is a hard pill to swallow. I guess it depends on what you are addicted to. I say, don't get addicted to a keyboard but you can't go by me... I spend way to many hours at a keyboard for work to spend all my free time at one too. But THEN I do spend some free time on this darn thing.

Twitter is like anything else, for those who understand the meaning of real social interaction, it will be a fantastic business tool. For those who spam ads all over the place, or hawk porn, or scammy MLM type (non)business it will remain the same - spam/scam. Don't follow those folks, AND don't allow them to follow you, and you'll catch on soon enough.

My first post. Exciting!
Nice to meet everyone! Seems like a very welcoming community.
I hope I'll be able to help others too!

My website is ready for your critical eyes. Bon Apetit.

www.PDDRO.com

I appreciate the comments,
Pedro Alejandro

Hello Pedro.

You've done a wonderful job. Very attractive and creative. I like your choice of colors.
For my taste, I'd add more colors in inconspicuous places. Red and black although sophisticated can also get ummm, boring, page after page. Perhaps add one additional color per page where you want to hi-light your message.

Looking at the source code I see your keywords/phrases as:
"tree,pedro alejandro,advertising concepts,pddro,headlines,freelance,copywriting freelancer,Copywriting,webdesignwixuser,brainstorm"
And your description as: "PDDRO - Creative Freelance Service. Advertising Concepts and Headlinewriting."

FYI - Each page should have it's own set of keywords/phrases and those words should be part of the page title, page url (when you can manage it), headline and page content. If you have a unique set of words for the main pages you may get more traffic and page views based on that information.

I think it is fabulous and give it ummmm, a 7 out of 10 overall. Above average, but needs some of the details reworked in tags.

You're obviously very talented. Good luck!

QUOTE (hymesdesign @ Jul 24 2009, 06:42 PM) *
I run a web design business and am about to beef up my content. I'm ultimately looking to increase traffic, but I'm just a coder/designer I don't know much about content writing. So basically my question is the topic title, does SEO copywriting make any difference versus regular content, and why or why not. Any tips on where to find more information on SEO or just giving me information on SEO either one would also be appreciated, thanks.

Hello.

(organic) SEO is based around keywords and key phrases. Put the words in urls, directory names, title tags, and page content as text and alt text. Have a good naming convention for all components.
However, don't keyword stuff the page content and you'll be OK. Keep your on page keyword density below 5%. I have seen some web sites with as high as 8% though that sailed right along. If you research your competition you'll know how much keyword density the market your shooting for will tolerate. Use keywords/phrases in text and headings where they make sense.

CLEAN CODE is important too. Be organized and have a good grasp on navigation.
If people get confused by your web sites road map, so will the bots/spiders who are indexing your pages.

So what's the deal, Verb? Is it ok to pay next to nothing for a sales letter but not ok to pay next to nothing for SEO content? Why such a descrepancy here? Just trying to understand your position on the subject.

pilotlight

Hello pilotlight.

New writers who need exposure and apply for jobs all over town and on the web
do so with one thing in mind - to make money. They also want to show off their
skills and build a portfolio. How many times have you been paid to APPLY for a
position? Try ZERO. By paying applicants I can choose the best by 'test' work.
Research is an important factor and I am BIG on research being correct.

As far as being paid - I was not paid by the client for this project. It was work
for a friend who has become a partner in other ventures.

Juggling clients who come at you all at once can be a nightmare when the phone
rings off the hook. I do not want to be caught 'blind' when this happens the next
time as it has many times in the past. It's time to start building responsible teams
to help get the work out on time when time becomes a red hot factor.

Anyone who responded to the above ad after I closed the offer did not get a response
from me - time has been too short to write to everyone interested. I apologize
for that but as we all know - there are only so many hours in the day.

Thanks to all for your interest.

To get a handle on their work I assigned each a project, and yes this included the research -
each one doing their own.

All applicants were beginners but do deserve to be paid for their work - However, this test works
for me and obviously worked for the the applicants.

When was the last time you applied for a job and was paid ANYTHING to be tested?
... I didn't think so.

I hired two copywriters and the matter was closed.
Here they are:
http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/Buddy-Copywriting

Every applicant was paid for their work. The two people I hired are on call for all further
assignments.

Any further jobs assigned to the copywriters will be paid on a scale according to what
Buddy Copywriting contracts with any client.

The companies I run are my businesses and I do so as I see fit. When you have your
own businesses I promise you, I won't question how you conduct yours.

Hello Copy Heads.

This topic is now uh, closed. I hired one writer from this forum and
one from another forum. Although another person did make contact
she has not followed the directions to get to the proper place. I am
replacing her with a fourth writer who responded.

Thanks.

Hello Copy Heads.

Perhaps I was not clear on what we are looking for.
This IS a test - the first three copywriters to make contact will be asked
to write a sales letter, you will be paid, not much, but some is better than
nothing, eh?

IF you do well, you may be hired to be on call, on staff for further
copywriting assignments. Our business is blossoming and it is time to
expand outside our regular circle of writers and associates.

If you are just starting out, this could help you build a portfolio to have
paid assignments to show potential clients. Everyone here has been asking
how to get your foot in the door - here is your opportunity.

Take it or not...
As of today this offer will be posted at other websites too. I thought I'd try
here first as this is my favorite copywriting community. smile.gif

Thank you for your attention.

Hello Alex and All.

You may have been wondering where the heck I got too the past week or so.
I had a hard drive crash (failure) and of course it was the lone computer that I was
using to access the web.

I managed to get back online Monday with an entire new system here in the office.
I lost a lot of information that I really need too. Still working on getting that hard
drive accessed for the informaiton on it that was not backed-up. I know, I could
kick myself in the arse! Most of what was not backed up somewhere was my own
stuff. But it is pretty important stuff, at least to me.

So, I have not worked at all on the photo as promised. I apologize sincerely for
the lack of attention to this detail. I cannot jump right back to it yet either as I still
have to get some more software loaded on this computer to be able to do that work.

As soon as I possibly can though - I will get that to you!

Blessings.

QUOTE(Wildhoney @ Feb 26 2008, 01:52 PM)
I'm in once I get my blog up again! smile.gif You don't seem to have had many replies though -- what's up with these folks, do they not want comments!?

Hiya Wildhoney.

I have no clue and one of the oddest things I find is that more people do not
have a blog here and keep it current. I have a hard time keeping mine current,
so I guess I should not try to make that point. lol

Scheduling is a key factor in keeping a blog fresh and up to date and mine (schedule)
isfull most of the time. I take little breaks to come in here and to post at my
Ryze network but other than that, I am working. Of course business networking
should be considered as part of a normal work day and scheduled as such.

The problem with scheduling networking is that it is spontaneous and not
something you can put your finger on. Then one day you figure out you are
spending way too much time networking instead of working. Kind of a two
edged sword. Off subject, sorry.

Since Copywriting.com is considered a hub in google it really is a premiere place
to have a blog. I get quite a lot of traffic from this website to my website and
more and more calls too.

I think Miguel and the Powers that BE should consider opening up the comments
to folks outside the community. Thinking on that there would have to be an
agreement of sorts that you peruse the comments and keep the spam out.
I have a new Blogger Buddy group at yahoo where we are discussing this very
thing. I know StumbleUpon does this well but they are still working out bugs.
We are still in the beginning stages of how to handle reading and commenting
at each others blogs at Blog-Buds.

With all the members here you would think there would be a lot more comments
since our blogs rotate on the home page. I don't try to be slick or controversial
at my blog here but do try to impart some points of interest that skirt copywriting.
Miguel has copywriting covered uh, pretty well, eh?

I also receive Jack Forde's Copywriters Roundtable ezine and have for years. If he
had a place for a blog I would probably jump on that too. He discusses a lot of
marketing issues (as Miguel does) and his up to date news is affordable as it is
FREE. I look forward to his ezine arriving in my inbox. Am I off subject again?
Crap on a stick.

OH yes, blog comments. "Shirley" the folks here are not shy? And since you
can use the comments for link backs, I cannot imagine why there are not more
comments myself. ???

I have been thinking about taking Miguel's course here to see if there is anything I
don't already know as far as new trends in copywriting. I have a sneaking feeling
that there is plenty to be had behind closed doors. You know? Plus, I have spent
so much time with web site development in the past few (or ten) years that I feel
like I am somehow out of the loop.

I can't seem to stay on topic so I am Shutting UP.

You are right, Wildhoney, I did overdo that a bit, eh? LOL.
But, I will still use that as an example and add a toned down
retouch in a day or so. I don't want to make that webpage
any longer so will probably resize all of Alexes photos to add
a "toned down" version of a photo retouch too.

Hiya Wildhoney and All.

You are absolutely right about in line links. This process is called using "anchor text."

Example of use:
Let's say you have (or anyone) a copywriting website and you list the many
different types of copywriting you prefer to do or have experience with writing.
At your blog you write about one of those types. And let's say your
article (blog entry) is about product descriptions for catalogs and websites.

In this scenario you might outline your article before hand with terms you wish
to use such as:

catalog product descriptions
website product descriptions
product description copy
great product description writing

When you write your entry you work these terms into the copy and then link
those words to the website page where those words also reside (or even where they
don't reside). There are also many places you can use anchor text when you
comment on other peoples blogs.

Use anchor text in blog entries, blog comments (where allowed), ezine articles,
newletter articles, forum post comments and forum post questions (where allowed).
Are there more places?

The key to anchor text is in the content of the entire aritcle - is the content good?
Don't go about slapping up comments precariously just to add anchor text links
to your website. That will irritate the forum members or blog owners if and
when they see those types of entries that are obviously not thought out but just
for linking purposes.

It's good to practice this uh, practice but not in a blatant way. Make good useful
comments and your anchor text links will be a welcome addition to any forum or
blog.

OH - this would be a good blog entry. Might have to do that later on!
Great subject Wildhoney! I will add this to my list of things to blog about.
Unless, of course, you beat me to it...

Blessings.

Good Morning Alex and Copy Heads.

Alex graciously consented to allow the use of his photos as
examples at Buddy Web Graphics. I know we are way off
subject as far as copy writing goes but as copy writing projects
an image so does our uh, photos. Wouldn't you say?

To view the photos from start to finish please scroll down when
you get there:

http://www.buddywebgraphics.com

Alex - I'd like to add a line that says something like this:

Alex Wilson's photos used by permission. Alex Wilson, author and
copywriter resides and works in Australia.

Or something to that effect. Whatever you like. It just needs to be
fairly short. I do need permission to use your last name and when
you have a website ready, I would also link to that, if you like.

Now, everyone knows you need to start out a website with no LESS
than six pages. The Buddy Web Group however consists of (almost there)
six websites and all will be intertwined. Just getting one page for the
graphics portion will do until I have more time to devote to my own
projects. I know I will have to break down that long, slow loading page
into a real website soon. If client work would slow down I could certainly
find the time. But if that were to happen I would not be able to pay the
electric bill!

Alex, thanks for the kudos, I had a similar situation. My assistant saw your
photos this morning and jumped for joy. We have been trying to get
permission from photo retouch clients for sometime. Unfortunately so
far, none wanted their photos used with their names at the website.
We completely understand that attitude and if you could see some of
the before photos you would understand too. lol.

If you need anything else, just give me a holler. It is 7:45-ish am here in
KS, USA and although I have been at it since 5:00 am, my work day
officially starts at 8:00 am. I woke up thinking about getting your
distinguished face up at BuddyWG.

You can find my email address at Buddy Web Graphics.

Blessings.

Hello Alex.

I think the color photo is the better image. You look younger
and I like the added glasses. I would have that photo re-touched
to remove the shine on your cheeks, etc. though.

I do web graphics and photo re-touch as part of my web services
business. I would do this one for you for uh, free.

Just post here or shoot me a PM and give me the thumbs up

Hello Copy Heads.

Sigung - you hit the nail on the head. Great post. So many
folks don't know where to begin and step one being keyword
key phrase research seems to boggle minds. But it is the
true starting point. You have to know the market (on the web)
before jumping into the (keyword/phrase) pool.

I just want to give Doug a few more pieces of advice that relate
to his website.

Doug, add these terms to your meta tag keywords:

golf, golf instruction, golf lessons, learn to play golf,
improve your golf game, doug kercher, golf pro, australia, australian,

Some of these are the long tail phrases Sig was telling you about
and there may be more of those.

Meta tag description - try using this:

Golf instruction (golf lessons) by Australian Golf Pro Doug Kercher.
Improve your golf game to the fullest potential possible.

Home Page Title:

Golf Instruction - Get your golf lessons from Australian Golf Pro
Doug Kercher!

As for the copy on the page - PM and we'll talk. You need to
dramatically improve the text - be sure all the keywords and
key phrases are in the text on the page.

ONE more thing - Don't use "click here" ever. Use pertinent
anchor text instead. This will make a HUGE difference too.

All the little pieces put together correctly will bring you much more
traffic and potential customers.

My .02 and OH-pinion.

Hiya SamIam and Word Workers.

You know, this is the question that so many people ask.
Everyone would love to work from home, but in the real
world that is just not possible.

Another thing is, working from home is not for everyone.
You have to be over the top organized, have a great
business plan in place, have a workable schedule, and most
important of all be able to seperate your work day hours
from your home duty hours.

No one can really get started until there is a plan in place.
Yes, there is a process to home busines but there is also a
mindset. You have to alter how you think about working
from home.

Once you have a plan, do some research on how other people
got started. There are literally thousands of stories out there
about people who started on their own and make a good
living doing so. Some are free, some are costly. I would try
to avoid the costly stories.

I just finished writing a post about Press Releases and publicity.
It is something everyone who works from home should consider.
BUT, getting your ducks in a row first is uh, the first thing to do.

Hey There Forum Friends.

Good Advice Blue.

An Article can be about anything, pick a subject and tell your
story any way you want too. It might get picked up here and
there.

A Press Release should be very concise (as blue stated) but
also sound somewhat exciting.

Examples:
• New company puts microbusiness at the forefront of client list.
• New home coffee maker adds measured sweetener.
• New technology produces perfect toast in four (4) seconds.
• New bikini actually makes you loose ten pounds when you put it on.

OK, the last one is wishful thinking but you know, it would be nice.
The second and third examples are there because I am drinking
coffee and eating wheat toast. The very first example is a true
scenario and I am currently writing a press release for the company.

Press Releases are more about publicity than they are a story of
any kind. There is no story, ONLY FACTS and the competition for
getting your press release ahead of others is partly due to some
kind of extraordinary circumstances, in many cases.

Whole markets getting recognition and their just due after years
of struggling to find services, fair, non-biased, truthful and helpful
resources in one place IS big news but the only way the word gets
out is through a Great Press Release.

Articles are and/or can be stories about anything.
Press Releases are about garnering Big Publicity.
A whole 'nother thing.

Here is one article that has some good tips for building traffic to a Blogger site: http://blogbusinessworld.blogspot.com/2005...on-blogger.html

Hiya Copy Heads.

I finally took the time to read the whole article. That's a lot of information.
I did see why I was unable to get my blogger blogs set with Technorati too.

It's amazing how little I know about the back end of bloging. Sheesh.

HI ya Word Workers.

Just in the past uh, few weeks maybe, when I glide in here and
click on "View New Posts" I get this error message:

"Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature,
or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through
the help files for more information."

How's Happen?
Did I do this to myself by playing around in My Assistant or something?
Is anyone else getting this message?

Bedtime for Bonzo here but first, I have to ask...

I just joined technorati a couple of days ago. A friend said
do it, so I do it (did).

I have been trying to get my blog here registered (term?)
over there. I see the "technorati this" button in the forums
but not at the blog. Plus, I cannot get technorati to uh, connect
(term?) with the blog here.

I give up for tonight - can someone lead me by the hand with
simple (1,2,3) answers to this problem?

Thanks copyheads, 'preciate anything anyone can tell me.

Blessings.
