Thanks a bunch Eileen. I know how you feel; my computer is showing signs of giving trouble, and if something big does go wrong, I'll be off line for up to six weeks. Good to see you're close to being at least operational again. And thank you Stephen! Your interest and contributions were all very much appreciated. Alex |

I think I saw this post in another place, and you'll probably get a better response there. |

I built an informational website to help promote my wife’s interest in Yoga: www.classical-yoga.com In it, she was offering a PDF version of a book that she has written on Yoga and which has been traditionally printed, bound and published. The book runs to 182 A5 pages and comes complete with glossary, index and illustrations. She’s asking $25 for the PDF version, and sales have been non-existent. I sought advice from the members of the Warrior Forum, and as a result of some 44 replies I have decided to build a one page website dedicated to the sale of the book as a whole, or as a series of some 10 or so e-books. The site will be optimised in the main, at least initially, with articles to the directories. The original site will either be improved and left as a informational site, or abandoned. I will be interested to receive expressions of interest for the copywriting or copywriting/design of the one page website (which I will build using WordPress) and later for the editing of a considerable amount of work that my wife has done. I would welcome enquiries from anyone interested in some or all of this work. Thanks Alex |

Yep, even I may be able to do something with this; and I'm an IT ('specially blogs) tragic. |

Well! What does everybody think? A male friend came in and looked at the screen just as I was looking at Verb's work and said: "Geez! You scrub up well mate." And, gee whiz--you've scrubbed me up well alright Verb. My dentist can't do what you've done; nor can I brush my hair that well! So...your verdicts please people! We are all the worst judges of our own images. From a business/marketing point of view (not personal), I need your input. But Verb, I reckon that's great! (But then, I would. Not the best judge, as I said...) |

Thanks for your input everyone. I have run this question past a lot of people involved in marketing and the ultimate vote was 90% in favour of the colour version. So I guess that's what I should go with. |

I haven't begun yet!--if you discount tertiary education scribing, articles that i HAD to write and like compulsory items. Perhaps I should start a journal? (Seriously). |

I’m about to start several campaigns designed to sell some e-books and to begin to build a list. I intend to use a photograph of myself as part of the branding process, but I have a problem with which I hope members will help me by offering their honest no-holds-barred opinions. Until recently, the only reasonably recent photo I had of myself is 5 yrs old and in sepia tone. I now have a more recent one in colour, but of course, the years have taken their toll—as they do. My problem is I don’t know which one I should use. Is colour important? Is brutal honesty important? The old photo has been hanging around in quite a few forums for quite a few years…do I lose anything by dropping it now? The old photo is looking to the left and is best suited on the right hand side of the page; probably not the best side for a photo to be. Do you see any reasons why one is better than the other? Which do I think is the best? The one that gives the best result—but I can hardly split test it; or can I? One thing I do know—branding is important. So I’d really appreciate your opinions. The two photos can be seen on http://www.alexdwilson.com (but I’ll have to take it down in a few days time). Thanks for your help, |

I'm such a non-techie type I'm always embarrassing myself. This time it concerns inserting a photograph in my posts. I have searched around but I'm dashed if I can find the way to do it. Can some kind person please help? Kind regards Alex |

Have you tried using voice recognition software such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking? I picked up a copy off eBay for $95 and I find I use of more and more. Mind you I suffer from 'fat finger' syndrome, so I guess I'm more inclined to use voice recognition software than someone who can type very effectively. But it could be useful in overcoming writer's block, simply because it's such fun to use; and just watching the words magically appear as you talk can be enough to get you going perhaps. Could be worth a try? Kind regards Alex |

Greetings all, My name in is Alex Wilson and I currently live in a small town in the Northern Rivers district of New South Wales, Australia. I say currently because my wife and I will soon be moving over 1000 miles away to North Queensland, which means that I will be out of the loop for a few weeks starting on the 25th of this month (September 07). My lovely wife's name is Sally, and she is a writer (horticulture and philosophy). I have two great sons, one of whom is a corporate lawyer in Perth Western Australia, and the other a psychologist within the state school system in Toowoomba, Queensland. I also have five delightful grandchildren: three boys (15, 15 & 9) and two girls (12 & 12). Most of my working life has been spent in various farming ventures. I attended university late in life and the latter part of my working life has been spent in providing management consultancy to very large farms (>1,000 acre orchards and vineyards) and small manufacturing businesses <100 employees). I have not sought new business for the past two years and am basically semi-retired. I have been flirting with Internet marketing for a couple of years, and have come to the conclusion that I can generate an acceptable income in that arena and am now in the throes of getting serious about it. Unfortunately I am not a techie type, and computers were not a part of my early life. So it has been a rather difficult learning curve for me, and although I am quite comfortable with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher, I am at present struggling with Front Page 2003… but getting there. I am also on the cusp of moving into learning (X)HTML. In addition I need to generate and then hone some real skills in copy-writing. It seems to me that this is by far the most important aspect of 'Netmarketing, and the skill that is least able to be outsourced. So although I have had a lot to do with the marketing of farm produce I recognise that I am but an advanced apprentice when it comes to 'Netmarketing. Soon though, I believe I will qualify for my journeyman ticket and I can certainly visualise the day when I will be a master Netmarketer. But it will not be without the help and guidance of other people, and the synergies I cultivate with them. For that reason I look forward tremendously to meeting all you people... learning from you; learning with you; and, where I have the expertise, facilitating your learning in return. Thank you Miguel. Thank you Stephen D. (I have signed up as a private member of you Copywriters’ Institute). My warm regards to all Alex Wilson |
