Article writing is probably the best. You can normally work at the rate you want, at the normal number of words you want, without question. There are normally deadlines to follow that can be managed, and some jobs are even laidback as to when to finish an article. So I do like these the best as well, as long as it's a subject I know extensively about. |

I don't mind low-paying work at the moment because I'm a beginner at what I do. I need experience, and though I think I'm worth more, I want to hav a good-looking portfolio to show people what they can really expect from me, no matter the price. |

To add some more depth into this topic, I did find a website like Associated Content that I just joined. It's called http://www.triond.com/, and seems to be a website where you write what you want, and they have advertisers put it up somewhere, where you'll get money per view. I've yet to write anything for them, but it seems to be interesting enough, that can pay off in the long run if you keep making articles for them. |

Same here. I read more blog posts than I read my daily newspaper, and that's a little sad. Still, I agree with Reid, that there's something about blogs that make them want to be read, and for earlier posts to be looked over, if not read with as much enthusiasm as the one you started out with. |

Oh, definitely. Though I'm only writing for some spare change, it never ceases to amaze me as to just how many things I could do to to write online. I've found my fair share of writing opportunities on the web, from writing articles, to blogging, to whatever else there is. I feel overwhelmed sure, but it's better than just staring at a computer all day with nothing to do but watch videos and play games. |

As I've mentioned in previous threads, I've learned a whole bunch of about copywriting here, and am a newbie currently regarding it. I just find myself wondering though, when the copywriting business started originating. We've had the internet for a great while now, and it makes me wonder if there was always someone in need and ready to pay for online writing, or if it's a recent job that's gained a lot of attention in the past few years. Does anybody know? |

For yourself or your loved ones, what are you buying? Me, I'm just looking forward to getting a new MP3-player. The one I have now has lasted for about 5 years now, and my craving for music keeps me from fully enjoying a music player that can only hold like, 90 songs. The one I'm getting now will hold 4,000. As for my family, well, I'm not sure yet. I normally procrastinate my Christmas shopping till they actually tell me what they want. Being good-natured, the only thing they tend to ask for is peace on earth. |

This is a great topic, and I'm glad you brought this up! I personally have always wanted to become one of those famous authors that get so much attention for their creative genius. People like Dean Koontz and Stephen King are my role models for writing, and even though I really can't say I'd be as popular as them, I do want to become a full-time author if it ever becomes possible. Whether I acquire this dream job or not, there's no doubt that I'll continue doing online writing as well. As long as I get to do what I love, I'll be happy, and that is to write to my heart's content. |

Really, I've only ever used Google, because it's always come up with the best results for me. I also figured that all search engines tend to have the same results, but then I've never used Alexa, so I could be wrong! |

So, I've recently heard of this site called payperpost.com, where you basically blog and make money by blogging advertisements basically and making money off the ones who view it. I'm a bit interested in it, and am considering signing up for it, but I'd like to know more first! Does anyone know anything about this site? |

I'm still not very sure yet unfortunately. The only thing I know right now is who I'm not voting for, and that would be Hilary Clinton and Obama. I just don't think that either of them are cut out for that big of a job, and the majority of people I know hate Hilary with a passion. She shouldn't get rights to be a president just because she was first lady anyways. |

When I write, I tend to skip making a rough draft at all, instead preferring to write the main basis of my pieces. Instead, I revise and proofread what I currently have, and then, if I feel that something needs to be added to make it better, I'll slip it in at the very end. Does anyone else do this or have different techniques from the usual process of Rough Draft->Second Draft->Revise->Proofread->Final Draft (I'm hoping that's the order. I'm a wee bit rusty at writing techniques). |

I think a little bit of both would be necessary for any article. Keywords help people to find the article after all, and then that gives you a viewer in turn. I write more for the viewer, though I am starting to learn more about keyword placement. |

Some of the current jobs that people want are rather difficult for me to write about. For instance, I really hate technical writing. The writing I do is more personable and tries to relate to the reader. Technical writing, especially when I don't even understand what I myself am writing, is something I just can't do. Anybody else have a subject they just don't have much interest in, or have trouble with? |

Writing is a hobby of mine, though I want it to become a full-time job eventually! Until then, I'm satisfied with what I'm doing currently, and it's nice to actually make some money for all the effort I put into writing. |

Thanks very much jnj ^.^ I've been looking at all of the freelance sites, and have to say that there are a few interesting points, but I'm just not sure if I'm good enough yet. I do know it's worth it to do something you enjoy though! Maybe I just have to write more and get more accustomed to freelancing/copywriting before I consider it full-time. All I know is that I'm enjoying it so far! |

QUOTE(romanticmannnnn @ Nov 28 2007, 06:26 PM) You guys need to get away from the freelancer sites and forums that only pay 1 to 2 cents a word. Im pretty sure you can find better paying clients elsewhere(hint , hint). Remember with copywriting it isnt about talent just, its about knowledge to find better clients:). Do you know of any sites or any place to find better clients? I think for beginners, cheaper jobs are alright to try for, especially if they are only short-term. I accepted a few cheap jobs because I wanted to see how well I would do at writing for people, and then I have some different examples of my work to show people. I am however looking for long-term writing jobs that pay much better. |

I think I'm at that stage in my life where I'm still wondering what I want to do with my life. I'm in college now, yet I find myself less dedicated to it than to the writing lifestyle that Copywriting and other online writing can provide. I find myself more passionate about succeeding in online writing- which ends up making me wonder if I can't just get a job on here. The only experience I have is with the articles I've currently written, and high school experience. Do you need a degree to get a high paying job? Does it depend on luck, to actually make a good living wage for yourself? I end up feeling like I'd rather work at home and copywrite than try and study for something I'm just not passionate about. The only reason I decided to major for education was because I wanted to work and find a place with a stable income so I can actually have a home of my own one day. and all the things I need to support myself and a family whenever I have one. I'm just having a lot of conflicting thoughts at the moment. |

I've submitted a few articles at Associated Content. They didn't give me much ($3 for both my articles), and then I have a couple doing performance payments. Since I'm still rather new there I haven't gotten anything yet. Personally, I think it's easier to do what Romantic says and make your own site with google adsense. For sites like Associated Content, you have to make articles about material that you know no one else has made yet in order to get more views. That's about the only reason my two articles even got accepted in the first place, since they didn't have any content about it. It's possible though, just pretty hard with every subject taken. |

I've signed up for one of them but haven't had any luck so far. I don't really like the idea of bidding for jobs, and it's always possible for a person to bid even lower than you. I'm sure it's a great way to make connections though! |

QUOTE(jnjsarauer @ Nov 28 2007, 05:26 PM) I am somewhat spoiled, as I typically will only write on topics that already interest me or sound fun to research. Still, there are days I'd rather yak on the phone with a friend or curl up with a good book. Those days, it is the paycheck that propels me to the keyboard. Also, I love to write fiction but will not let myself write so much of a word of that until my "paying" work is done for the day. I guess it goes to show that money really does matter, getting in the way of the things I enjoy. |

I love snow! We haven't received any yet, but I'm crossing my fingers on having a white Christmas! I know it's a pain to drive through, but I've always preferred snow to rain in the winter, which just makes for an icky day. |

I try to write more for enjoyment than anything else. Articles that I can't relate to are just too difficult to make for me. I turned down a high-paying, $60-per-week job because the articles the guy wanted me to write had to be nothing but technical jabber about things I know nothing about. I do get motivated by money sometimes, especially when I know that I can get the job done quickly and easily, but more than anything, I need to enjoy what I'm doing, or I just won't write anything good at all. |

I think that receiving an e-book and then a free print version would pull more interest in a sale's letter. E-books will never be as popular as faithful printed copies, and people would enjoy having that randomly thrown into their deal. |

Jnj, I see your problem from an artist's perspective. Writing can be considered a work of art. It's valuable to your client and to yourself as well if you cherish your own work. Your articles are like your artwork, commissioned by a person who was willing to pay you. Adding or deleting small things to 'said artwork is commonplace and normal, since this person is paying you. However, when they want to change the entire thing around, which pretty much trashes your previous articles, I say charge this person for it. You spent a lot of time and effort on those articles for your client, and just like any artist, just because your client wants different articles after they are finished, doesn't mean they should be free. Just my thoughts on the matter. Good luck though! |
