Hello Angel.

Your copy is showing a lot of improvement. What I would
suggest now is to set up a split run testing mechanism (A/B)
and start testing the effectiveness of the copy.

There are many variables to test, you can start out with a
couple of different headlines and then test offers, pricing,
subheads, fonts, headers, etc.

Testing is by far the best way to figure out what works
best for your target market. smile.gif

Hello Claire.

In my opinion, corporate sounding copy should be avoided
at all costs. It is boring and impersonal.

Remember that people like to buy and do business with
other people... not with a faceless corporation. For that
reason alone, you should try to write in a way that talks
directly to the target market, connects with them on a
personal level and gains their trust.

Nobody said that writing copy is easy. It's not. At least not
when starting out... And that's why as copywriters we
should never consider a piece "done". When possible, you
should try to make constant improvements to the copy
with the goal of increasing response (done by testing).

I hope this helps... but I'd also like to hear what other
members of the forum have to say about it. smile.gif

Cheers!

Hello Dave.

The length of the sales letter should not be based on
personal preference.

There's a saying in the copywriting world that goes
like this: "The length of your copy is like a woman's
dress; it should be long enough to cover the essentials,
but short enough to keep things interesting."

Said that, you also need to consider the audience and
write your copy accordingly. smile.gif

I'd love to read what the other members of this forum
have to say about this never ending debate over the
length of sales letters.

Cheers!

Hi guys.

Lately, the forum has been gaining more attention and new
users are signing up to join the discussions. Unfortunately,
spammers have also been attracted and they're trying to
pollute us with their garbage.

If you'd like to help, send me a private message to apply
as a designated forum moderator. I'll modify your access
so you can delete spam whenever you see it. smile.gif

Let me know if you're interested.

Hi.

Twitter is HUGE... and in my opinion it's the best thing to
happen on the internet after e-mail.

For me, It is a great way to stay in touch and build solid
relationships with new and interesting people. And a very
nice way to market stuff online (although you've got to be
very careful to not spam other users).

I even made a video about twitter marketing... here it is:

And if you want to follow me on twitter, here's my microblog:

Hi Thomas.

I find myself visiting these two quite a bit when writing copy:

1) Rhymezone

2) The visual thesaurus

Hope those help you. smile.gif

Hi Richard.

The easiest way to test your sales letter is to drive some
targeted paid traffic to it. And the easiest way to do it is
through Google AdWords (PPC).

Having such highly targeted traffic helps you know your
conversion rate and test various elements of your letter.

I'm not talking about building a full-fledged PPC campaign
here. I'm just talking about sending it enough traffic to
test how well it sells.

Once you know the sales letter is working, you can start
using any other promotional methods you want (which
normally take a lot more time and effort than PPC). smile.gif

Hi.

The directory looks good, but I'd probably move the categories
to the top to make it more intuitive for the user (or maybe just
shorten the amount of stuff to read before reaching the actual
article categories).

Just my $0.02 smile.gif

Hi Verb.

Send me a private message with the new title you want for your blog
and I'll try to change it as an admin.

Also, please send me the details of those blank blogs that are getting
so much traffic and I'll try to figure out why that's happening.

Hi.

In my opinion, the term "linkbait" is just a buzz-word. The goal
is to create a piece that provides high enough value to the target
audience that other webmasters feel compelled to link to it and
spread the word.

Sure, there are a few techniques out there to increase the likelyhood
of the link-frenzy to happen... but in the end it all boils down to
value to the end reader.

Just my two cents... what do you guys think? smile.gif

Hi.

The best advice I can give you is to simply forget about that
client and move on with your writing. There's simply no use
to doing that and it kind of borders on slandering.

It's just not worth your time...

I know that a few clients are just *begging* to be talked about
in forums like that... but if focus your time and energy in finding
new and better clients, you'll be much happier in the long run. smile.gif

Hi.

There are so many to list that I'd spend an hour thinking about
them and typing them here... However, if I were to pick just
one out of the whole bunch, I'd have to say Robert Collier.

His work has inspired me and I study his letters frequently
(any time I have a copywriting job in the works).

Hi.

I agree... the best way to go with blogs is to publish real content
that is geared for human readers. And to publish it frequently.

Of course, you may still do some SEO for the blog and optimize
each post's title tag, meta tags, etc... but the blogosphere is not
forgiving when it comes to spammy-looking blogs, so look out
for that and give your audience what they really want: fresh
and relevant information on the subjects you're talking about.

Hi.

Great resource... thanks for sharing it! smile.gif

Larry Dotson (the author of that report) is a great guy
and pretty famous in the "internet marketing arena".
It had been a while since I last heard of him, but it's
good to know he's still publishing stuff like that.

Hi.

Actually, I have a page devoted to answer this question
right here on the Copywriting.com website. Here's the link:

http://www.copywriting.com/rssfeeds.html

Now that you know what they are, let's move on to learn
how to create them.

Creating an RSS feed for your website can be done using
two different approaches:

1) You can publish an RSS feed "manually" by using one of
the many RSS publisher software programs out there (the
one I recommend is called Feed4All, just Google for it).

or

2) You can install a blogging software in your hosting account
and then the RSS feed will be automatically created and
updated for you when you post on the blog.

I'm not sure if this is the type of answer you were looking for
or if I should be gettin' more techie with it. Just let me know... smile.gif

Hi.

I belive that getting hired to ghost-write a pack of PLR articles
is a great way to get some experience working as a freelancer
(especially for those just getting started in SEO copywriting).

The only downside to this is that the payout is quite frankly
pityful. Mostly due to the extremely cheap outsourcing to India
and other countries where a few dollars go a long way.

My suggestion is that you consider that type of a job as a way
of learning the ropes of the freelancer business... but don't
really expect to become a millionare for it (there are much
higher paying jobs you can get as a copywriter - for example
writing salesletters and direct response e-mail promotions).

Hello.

In the SEO world, these are called on-page factors and off-page factors,
and if you want to give your website or blog a good shot at getting good
positions in the search engines, I'd recommend focusing 20% of your
time in the on-page factors and 80% in the off-page ones (link building).

The reason is this... while virtually anyone can write a decently coded
HTML page or launch a WordPress blog with a SEO-friendly theme, few
people will actually take the time to build relevant links to their sites.
Doing so can really give you an edge over your competitors.

Some SEO experts are saying that Google ranks your site giving 90%
of the weight to off-page factors. I think that may be a bit over the top,
but they are saying it for a reason.

Many of us have seen what off-page factors can do to a page or site.
For example... if you google the phrases "click here" the #1 listing
belongs to Adobe's Acrobat Reader.

But why? That page doesn't have the words "Click here" anywhere!

The reason is that thousands upon thousands of incoming links to that
page have those words as the anchor text (the blue underlined text).
"Click here to download it now" or "Click here to get acrobat reader".

That alone is pretty solid proof of what off-page factors can do for you,
so my advice is to focus on them as much as humanly possible without
spamming the engines. wink.gif

Hi.

White words used to be an effective technique in the early 90's.
Today, it is considered black hat and you are putting your site
at risk of getting banned from Google and other major search
engines if you use it.

My suggestion is that you don't even try it... Staying under the
white hat keeps your site safe and at odds of winning the search
engine game in the long run. smile.gif
