I am 33 years old, and have never known what I wanted to do with my life. I have gone from one dead end job to another since I left school. About a month ago, I accidently came across the term 'copywriter' and after looking into it some more, I find myself very excited.
I never really knew that this job existed, and I feel like this could be my lucky break. I thirst for knowledge, love writing, both fiction and non-fiction, so copywriting sounds right up my street.

However, I know nothing of this particular type of writing and so need to get myself a course.

I came across this site yesterday, and started looking at the courses that are advertised through the site. However, the claims of earning up to $500,000 a year seem a little outrageous to me. There're even testimonials that some people claim to now be earning $300,000 a year within one year of copywriting. Is this possible?

It sounds too fantastic to be true, and if it is true, why isn't everybody doing it?

I don't want to shell out $500 for one of these courses if they're no good, or can't deliver what they claim.
Does anybody have any thoughts on this, is it really possible to be earning this much within a year, or are any of you guys earning this yet?

Hello!

Once you get the right amount of experience behind you, you can earn that kind of money. But your first priority is to get together a portfolio of work. This will allow you to showcase your abilities to new clients. At first you will need to charge at a low rate and possibly do some pro bono work. After this you can start to increase your rate.

I would also recommend specialising - if you are good then you will find yourself in high demand.

To begin with, though, start slowly. Make sure you enjoy it.

Hope this helps

You cannot be a Copywriter by choice but this profession choices you. Do not pay such huge amount of money for getting trained in this profession. If you do not have a positive bend of mind, you will never be able to make a difference in this sphere.

I have no doubt it's possible, I'll finish up at over 120k this year...but it has VERY little to do with how well I write. Sure, you need that, but it's less than 10% of the game. It all comes down to how good you are a selling and negotiating your own services. I came into this with over a decade of sales experience, and that made all the difference. My advice, if you love write, do it for a hobby only. However, if you love to sell AND you love to write, the six figure years are certainly obtainable.
