No, this isn't a weather report rolleyes.gif but it's about the "other" kind of writing I do in addition to solid copywriting for businesses. How do you all deal with the lead times for print publications and having to write about summer beaches and picnics when the snow is falling like I'm seeing today?

I really don't mind writing about Christmas in June or July. I love Christmas! But I do have a wee little issue with going from carols and wrapping presents in "real life" to writing about sunburn the same day. Maybe I'm just too fickle. laugh.gif I *do* it and it's not a huge problem, but writing about Christmas in July is a LOT more fun!

I do tend to write a lot of outlines/rough drafts for seasonal articles in the midst of the particular season because inspiration comes easily, and the writing is effortless. I file my bits and pieces until the editorial calendars tell me it's time to send out queries/submissions for that particular season, and then I pull out the best ideas from my file. I do still have to do final drafts and rework on those pieces at odd times of the year, but it's a lot easier for me than starting from scratch.
