I was just musing on this: what do you think the main differences are between writing for the Internet and writing traditionally?

You obviously need to optimize for search engines, but I think there may be differences in the style as well. For example, sites I write for like you to leave a blank space between one paragraph and the next.

Any other differences you can think of?

Hi! I've justed posted a similar inquiry in another section. Browse through magazines and copywriting there is usually in conjunction with pretty pictures, aside maybe for some in the ads sections, but most landing pages selling stuff in the web look the same.

If there is a long block of uninterrupted copy, readers eyes (and minds) get tired, and they quickly move on to a more interesting page. The writing style for the internet is also typically more simple and direct than for print publications. Most writers agree it is a pretty easy style once you get the hang of it.
