So, where do you do your writing? Also.... has anyone used an Alphasmart Neo or Dana? I'm seriously considering getting one of them so I can write on the fly. I don't really need all the capabilities of a laptop, and am looking to keep my costs down as well.
Where do you write? |

I do about 75% of my work on my laptop nowdays. I write anywhere and everywhere. When I have a challenging project, I will close myself off in the bedroom, but otherwise I'm in the living room or the kitchen most of the time. I have been known to take the laptop to the local coffee shop, and on nice days, I'm out on the patio behind our house. Laptops rock!

I have a laptop, so that I can work at home, or away. Recently Ive bought a Neo, and its great! Its very light, runs on AA batteries which never seem to run out (they say approx 50 hours battery life), you dont need to save your work, if you spill water on them, a hairdryer does the trick (I know this from experience, not sure about anything else though!), and you dont get all the heat from a laptop. And, its easy to upload onto your computer, or connect to a printer. The only downside is the small screen, but as I touch type, I dont really look at a screen until after the work is finished, then I upload it onto my computer to format and edit etc. pp |

HeyHo All.
My laptop is very old and although I still use it I have to jump through a few hoops to transfer files to my desktop. Yeah, it's that old. I do most of my writing at the desktop. When I want to write at some other location (still here at home) I most often take a legal pad and pen to the couch. If I go out back to the deck, the pad/pen goes with me almost always. I also keep a small pad in my purse as I tend to write when sitting almost anywhere. At the doctor's office, dentist's office, optometrists office and well, you know, all those "waiting" places. Once your over uh, 49 you spend a lot of time in those waiting place. I have a great comfy chair here at the desktop and can almost sleep in the darn thing so don't often go anywhere else just for writing. I would dearly love to have a grand new toy to write on but really don't need one. Blessings. Verb |

You all got me to thinkin', and hard...
What tools would be the most useful for mobility? I decided to get the Neo. The main reasons: It will fit into my purse Very lightweight Large keypad - big enough to really type. I will report back when I get it and have used it for a time. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles (full fledged laptop) to write. This probably won't replace the pad in my purse but might be a great addition. PLUS, I won't have to jump through hoops when lounging on the couch and writing. I will still need a pad for real doodling, but writing? I think the Neo is a great choice. I guess we will see..., eh? Verb |
