Hello.

I decided to start this topic in order to determine if I have talent in copywriting.

Although I am not so sure what to do to find this out, I assume the best way would be if someone gave me an appropriate assignment to accomplish, so my work could be evaluated.

Thank you for your attention.

I like the suggestion to find copy in magazines and then try to better the ad. That is how I am going to practice...

good luck

Hey there NT91,

I've found that the best way to check whether you're good at copywriting (and not to spend money doing it) is finding a task (eg. coming up with a brand name for something, or a slogan, etc) and then asking the most diverse range of people from your group of friend about what they think. If you find that the majority of them like it and understand it, you know that you're on your way to being a good copywriter smile.gif That's how I started out and now I know how to asses whether something that I've done is good or whether it can be better. You'll find that the more things you do, the easier it will get to figure out your exact style and what you are and aren't good at. If you want, visit my blog ( Visit My Blog ) to see what I did when I started out and how I go about doing things now.

I wish you all the best in the future.

hi,
you can give such an assignment yourself. Just think about some topic and try to write on it a sample text of for example 1500 characters with spaces. Then let some people read it and tell you what they think about it. It works! Remember, that people who evaluate your work don't have to be copywriters as well, after all you are aiming at writing for clients who more often will have no idea of copywriting. So just practise, develop your unique techniques, try many different styles and it will help you become better.
Best wishes!
