Is PPP the true Google AdSense killer?

PPP audio advertising for the web

There’s a new kid on the block - and it sure looks like a bully that’s getting ready to slap back at Google. Hard. The name of this new kid is Pay-Per-Play and I predict it will be a VERY interesting development in the world of online advertising (for both advertisers and content publishers like us).

So what exactly is “Pay Per Play”? In short, it is a new advertising channel for advertisers to increase their branding through online audio with 5-second sound-bites. Big advertisers are already queued up for it… and by big I mean brands like Coca-Cola, Toyota, Blockbuster and the sorts.

How will it work?
It will run in a very similar fashion to the way the Google Adwords/Adsense system works… advertisers bid to get their ads played and publishers get paid a fraction of that for acting as the middleman in target niches.

But there is one MAJOR difference, and this is what will be sending shockwaves all throughout the web. Publishers (website owners) will earn revenue on 100% of the traffic, no clicks are necessary to earn from this new system!

So what’s the catch?
Not a huge one. The visitor needs to stay on your page for at least 2 seconds for you to get paid for it – this is relatively easy if you run a blog and have decent targeted traffic. The good news is that the system boasts that the audio will actually be contextually targeted to your audience based on the page content where the code is placed.

How much will you get paid?
The juicy details about the exact revenue-sharing percentages are still under the veil of secrecy… but they will be released within the next 2 weeks.

One important detail that I need to mention is that the entire operation is backed up by one of the top 5 search engines in the world (details can’t be released yet due to a confidentiality agreement) – with such a strong brand backing up the entire thing, you can feel safe knowing that as a publisher you will get paid in a timely manner.

A few extra words…
This is a completely new ad channel that has done its homework and gathered a lot of backing before it even launches. To me, that speaks of integrity and commitment to make it work, so I will definitely be trying it out on a few of my own websites… and I strongly recommend that you do the same. It doesn’t hurt to test… and you’ve got a lot to gain if it does work as expected.

What if it doesn’t work? Easy, just take the code out of your sites and switch back to AdSense or any other form of revenue generating method you like. The potential is there, but fact is that you will only know for sure if this works on your site if you take the time and patience to actually test it.

Wow - OK, this is something I could go for in a big way. No clicking off my web sites and no space for adsense. VERY COOL.

Thanks for the clear explanation re PPP.

Here’s a bit of an update, included more detail on how much you can earn from PPP ads.

    Interesting,

Having been in Google AdNONsense since start, and dealing with the frustrations and wasted time trying to fine tune ads, colors and placement, I have seen revenues drop every month for the last year, so I welcome this new PayPerPlay concept.

Having read all the forums on PPC I know everyone is losing revenues, and this is even when my site hits has doubled, so I wonder who is making anything on AdNONsense now?

Just as the other media biggies said Google would never penetrate market, the same is being said for PayPerPlay, so only time will tell who is right and who is wrong again. lol

I liked the concept the moment I found it, why? It makes sense, not just cents like AdNONsense is now earning. Sound bite ads are simple to ad to sites, and in the time it took to load the code into all my sites, it took 100 times more time to set up PayPerClick ads, so this alone is a major reason for trying PPP on my sites.

Best of all, it will only take a couple days to see the results, so what is there to lose in beta testing PayPerPlay? Nothing, no cost, no hassle, no wasted time, unless you promote it, but then again, I doubt most will bother who are already using PPC on their sites. For me, I will do both, and given the response, it is well worth the effort to spread the word. Time will tell.

    Good luck to all,

This is a great way to earn advertising revenue.. Without doubt its time someone woke google up to the fact that they do not run the internet marketing scene..
