Opportunities information and resources
All websites contain Web content and/or copy. All of this copy and content can help you to make more money online, or it can be earning money all by itself. To begin, you need to know what the difference is between Web content and copy.
Web content is a form of writing that will inform or entertain your readers. Web content is usually articles on the website. But, there are also items such as video, photos, and sometimes audio files. Online businesses may use web content to attract potential customers to their site.
Web copy is the text that a site uses to get some type of response from the reader, or it may be to advertise a business. Copy may encourage readers to buy something, to sign up for something (such as an email newsletter), or even to click on a specific link on your website. The site's image is conveyed through copy, even the copy on the contact page, the about us page, and the contents pages.
How does Web copy and content help you to make money? Here's how you do it:
Web content- there are plenty of sites out there that use their Web content to make most of their money. Large content sites, such as About.com, which is owned by the NYT Corp., use content to bring readers, but many small sites do as well. If the Web content is there, the readers will come, but the site has to have ads to bring in the money, or a membership fee will have to be charged to read that content. To make more money with your Web content, there are a few things to keep in mind:
1. Use the highest quality Web content available. High quality content will bring in more readers, is sometimes well suited for SEO purposes, and will earn you high-quality back links, which in turn brings better traffic, better search engine rankings, and more earnings.
2. Publish new Web content. Publishing new Web content means that the site is always fresh, with new information to draw in readers, and as they come back, you make more money. Web content updates should be as frequent as possible, even if it is only updated once a week or month.
3. Make sure your copy will be attracting readers. Keyword research through either Wordtracker or Overture can give you an idea about what to use. High-quality Web content doesn't have to be keyword stuffed to bring in readers- it should be content that appeals to readers. If there are a lot of searches going on to find certain information, there may be a need for content with that information. When doing this research, look at the highly searched words in comparison with the number of results those searches are turning up to get an idea for how much need there is on that topic.
Web copy - Web copyrighting is usually reserved for making sales or bringing people back to the site. A very common example of Web copy would be an online sales letter used to sell an e-book, often containing large bold subheadings and flashy, colored copy with testimonials and multiple chances to place an order.
The Web copy used to sell an item doesn't have to be that flashy. All order pages have copy that is meant to persuade and to get an immediate purchase of the items, and perhaps even more items as well. Guarantees are often used on Web copy to get the reader to buy the item without thinking about it too much.
Copywriting relies a great deal on psychology, and understanding what buyers and website visitors react to. Hiring a professional copywriter (or even studying copywriting yourself before developing your website or online business) can easily lead to higher conversions from website visitors to buyers, earning you more money online in the process.
